USM | Master of Arts Education Program

OVERVIEW

Students in the Master of Arts in Education Program gain a greater understanding of contemporary issues in education while also strengthening their instructional skills. The degree satisfies the needs of many types of students:

Teachers in public and private schools in grades K-12
Non teachers working in development or leadership roles at colleges or universities
Military personnel interested in increasing their educational expertise
Home-school teachers
Child care managers and administrators
Parents who seek a greater understanding of educational practices

Program Features

Accelerated courses; most are one class per week for eight weeks
Small class sizes allow for meaningful interaction with classmates and instructors
Mix of full-time and adjunct faculty provides blend of academic knowledge and real-world experience in teaching and education
Three locations: Overland Park, Leavenworth, and Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Shawnee, Kan.

Please note that this is not a licensure program.
Learning Outcomes and Assessment Results

Class Schedule

Monday through Thursday, 5 p.m. to 8:50 p.m.
Terms begin six times per year (Jan., March, May, June, Aug., Oct.)
Start at any term

We recommend that program applicants submit their application materials at least 3 weeks prior to the start of the term.

Tuition

$300 per credit hour on site for the 2008/2009 school year
Financial aid for tuition and payment plans are available
