OVERVIEW

The Master of Arts Program in Adaptive Special Education prepares teachers for a teaching endorsement in adaptive special education at the level of their current teaching license.

The program seeks to develop teachers who:

Are committed to the education of all children
Maintain high expectations for educational achievement and quality of life for individuals with special learning needs
Utilize the latest theories, principles and practices in the design and practice of special education instruction
Collaborate with and foster positive relationships with parents, schools and community personnel

Program Features

Accelerated courses (most are one class per week for eight weeks)
Convenient location in Overland Park
Program consists of 33 credit hours earned through nine core courses and two elective courses
Small class sizes, allowing students to have meaningful interactions with their classmates and instructors

Class Schedule

Cohort groups begin in August and January.
Classes normally meet one night a week from 5-9 p.m.

We recommend that program applicants submit their application materials at least 3 weeks prior to the start of the term.

Tuition

$300 per credit hour on site for the 2008/2009 school year
Financial aid for tuition and payment plans are available
