OVERVIEW

The Master of Arts Program in Adaptive Special Education prepares teachers for a teaching endorsement in adaptive special education at the level of their current teaching license.

The program seeks to develop teachers who:

  • Are committed to the education of all children
  • Maintain high expectations for educational achievement and quality of life for individuals with special learning needs
  • Utilize the latest theories, principles and practices in the design and practice of special education instruction
  • Collaborate with and foster positive relationships with parents, schools and community personnel

Program Features
  • Accelerated courses (most are one class per week for eight weeks)
  • Convenient location in Overland Park
  • Program consists of 33 credit hours earned through nine core courses and two elective courses
  • Small class sizes, allowing students to have meaningful interactions with their classmates and instructors

Class Schedule
  • Cohort groups begin in August and January.
  • Classes normally meet one night a week from 5-9 p.m.
We recommend that program applicants submit their application materials at least 3 weeks prior to the start of the term.
